Of the 507 letters that were received from Windlesham residents last time around, 95% wrote in support of a totally independent Parish Council.
The then Borough Council rejected this request - largely for political reasons. Instead, they formed a working party that was asked to explore a "compromise solution" in which quasi-independent village-specific councils could share office / administrative resources.
The proposals from this working party were debated at the Surrey Heath Borough Council meeting on 22nd July 2020 and subsequently reflected by Windlesham Parish Council in May 2021 via the so-called "Village Committee structure".
Many people said back in 2020 that this model would never work - unfortunately they have been proven right.
