A : Yes - it really is. Apart from the fact that our council is five times larger than the average, the anomaly is readily apparent from the diagram to the left, which is taken from Surrey Heath's own web site. It clearly shows how the villages of Chobham, West End and Bisley are represented individually - compared to the seemingly illogical grouping of Windlesham, Bagshot and Lightwater. The figures on the right of the table are the number of councillors for each village.
A : The proposal that has been accepted by the Borough Council will allow our three villages to share costs of offices and staff and also to benefit from economies of scale where they exist. Importantly, the proposed model also allows each village to contract separately for services where a better deal is available.
A : Yes. The proposed new model places full responsibility for grants within each village to the councillor grouping of that village
A : The proposed new model retains the same total number of councillors as we have at present . Each village will be managed by its own group of these councillors - Bagshot will have 6, Lightwater 7 and Windlesham 5.
